Diana was the goddess of the hunt, being associated with wild animals and woodland, and also of the moon.In literature she ws the equivalent of the Greek goddess Artemis, though in cult beliefs she was Italic, not Greek, in origin. Diana was worshipped in ancient Roman religion and is currently in the religions of Religio Neopeganism and Strgheria. Diana was born with a twin brother named Apollo on the island Delos, daughter of Jupiter and Latona. Diana is also the woodland god. We found all this info at www.google.com
The goddess Diana was very highly worshipped in ancient Rome. Her greek counterpart, fell under the name Artemis. Diana in Roman worship, was known as well as a maiden huntress, protector of all that is wild and free. This is virtually the same context that the greek Artemis fell under. However, as centuries past and ancient Rome grew, so did the followings of the goddess Diana. We found this at http://www.main-vision.com/richard/Diana.htm
Diana was worshipped in a temple on the Aventine Hill and at the city of Ephesus where stood the Temple of Artemis. (At the city of Ephesus Jesus' mother, the virgin Mary, was officially decreed to be the Mother of God). Diana was regarded with great reverence by lower-class citizens and slaves. Slaves could receive asylum in her temples. She was worshipped at a festival on August 13. We got this from http://www.crystalinks.com/diana.html
